Lithium dendrites
Dendritic metallic lithium formed when lithium ions are reduced during the charging process of a lithium-ion battery.Note: The form of lithium when it appears on the negative electrode side is not necessarily lithium dendrites; collectively, it's referred to as lithium plating.
Internal short circuit
The phenomenon where defects within a lithium battery, such as burrs or lithium dendrites, pierce the separator, causing contact between the positive and negative electrodes.
Thermal runaway
The phenomenon where a chain reaction of exothermic reactions in a battery cell leads to uncontrolled temperature increase in the battery.
Thermal propagation
The phenomenon where a thermal runaway in one battery cell within a battery pack or system triggers successive thermal runaways in the remaining battery cells within the pack or system.
Abuse
The behavior of not using the battery according to the manufacturer/supplier or battery chemistry system's requirements. It may cause harm or adverse effects to humans, the environment, or damage the battery's performance.
Leakage
The phenomenon where visible substances leak from a battery cell, module, battery pack, or system to the outside of the test object.
Venting
When internal pressure increases in an individual battery cell or battery pack, gases are released through a pre-designed method.
Rupture
Mechanical damage to the external casing of an individual battery cell or battery pack, caused by internal or external factors, resulting in the exposure or leakage of internal materials without any spraying.
Fire
Continuous burning in any part of an individual battery cell, module, battery pack, or system (with a single flame duration greater than 1 second). Sparks and arcs are not considered as combustion.
Explosion
The sudden release of a significant amount of energy that generates a pressure wave or jet of material, which may cause structural or physical damage to the surrounding area.
Safety
No unexpected risks have occurred.
Risk
The collective term for potential damages and their severity impact.
Hazard level
It refers to the measurement of the potential severity of hazards.
Rewinding
The sheets that have been coated and dried are sequentially wound into rolls in accordance with specified speed and tension requirements.
Rectifying deviation
The sheets are maintained in the correct alignment and position during coating or drying by deflecting their path direction through the angle adjustment of rollers.
Rectifying deviation during process
During coating or drying, the alignment and position of the sheets are maintained correctly through the method of deflecting the sheet path direction and position by adjusting the angles of the rollers.
Motion rectifying deviation
During the unwinding or rewinding process, the alignment and direction of the sheets are maintained correctly, or the specified winding evenness is achieved by the linear movement of the reel stand.
Sheet tension
Force is applied to the sheets during unwinding, coating, and rewinding processes to ensure the sheets are laid flat and maintain their direction.
Alignment precision of single electrode
In the core pack manufacturing process, the alignment of all positive or negative electrode sheets along the envelope edges in the length and width directions is referred to as "CU" (Cathode Alignment) for positive electrodes and "DU" (Anode Alignment) for negative electrodes.
Vacuum blender
A specialized mechanical equipment that combines dispersion and mixing into one and is suitable for mixing the positive and negative electrode materials of lithium-ion batteries.
Coating machine
A specialized equipment with drying capabilities for applying a paste-like polymer, molten polymer, or polymer melt onto copper or aluminum foil to produce composite materials (electrodes).
Electrode rollerpress
A specialized equipment for continuously rolling and compacting electrode sheets to achieve the required density.
Electrode slitting machine
A specialized equipment used to cut the continuously wound electrode sheets into the required electrode width for battery manufacturing.
Separator slitting machine
A specialized equipment used to cut the rolled cylindrical lithium-ion battery separator into the desired width for specific applications.
